St. Andrew Food Pantry

A Partner Agency of the Community Foodbank of NJ -- Southern Division

PLEASE NOTE: Our final food pantry days will be May 23rd & 30th, after which, we will only be having our Joanna's Table Soup Kitchen, which will be on May 25th for the month of May. (We are hoping to possibly expand the soup kitchen in the future, with more Saturdays.) Donations of food and/or financial gifts are gratefully accepted to assist in our Joanna's Table Soup Kitchen ministry. Shopping carts are provided to deposit food donations. Checks for financial gifts may be made out to:

St. Andrew By The Sea Lutheran Church. Please indicate in the memo line that the gift is intended for the Soup Kitchen.

In the meantime, Sister Jean's Pantry, located at 108 N. Pennsylvania Ave., has a large food pantry every week.

Their schedule is:  Tuesdays 10am-1pm - Wednesdays & Thursdays 3-6pm.

We give thanks to God for the many gifts He has given us through this food pantry,

including the time we have had together with you each month.

History:

Our food pantry has been in operation since 2012 and has been one of the lights in the darkness for a lot of hungry people. We originally started with donated/purchased food and a small amount of families coming to us during our Hope House Ministry back in the early 2000’s.

In 2012, we were able to provide more food on a steady monthly basis, from both government and non-government agencies, through partnering with the Community Food Bank of New Jersey. This allowed us to grow into a much larger organization. As of this date, we have given out approximately 1,420,300 lbs of food from the CFBNJ, not including food that has been donated to us, to approximately 31,075 individual/families. This number does not include our Joanna’s Table (formerly Barnabas House) soup kitchen, which is one Saturday per month.

During all of this time, we have been blessed with a continuously revolving crew of amazing volunteers, with a core of those who always show up each food pantry. They have all been the behind-the-scenes heroes doing all the work necessary for a smoothly running operation. From helping to unload the delivery trucks, to moving cases of food around between storage, kitchen, and distribution tables. They have been our blessing during our food pantry run, and we thank them so very much!!!
